Job summary
The State Registered Nurse delivers safe and quality patient care and is accountable for the outcomes of patients assigned under his/her care. He/she works collaboratively with the nursing staff, physicians and other members of the healthcare team to accomplish patients’ needs and achieve positive outcomes in line with the hospital/nursing vision, mission, values and objectives. In addition, he/she practices within the realm of the profession’s ethical and legal frameworks whilst adhering to the hospital’s guidelines, policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing
- Registered with Malaysia Nursing Board
- Valid Annual Practicing Certificate
- Prefer clinical knowledge and experience
- BLS, ACLS, MTLS and PALS
Duties & responsibilities
Provider of patient care:
- Greets and attends to patients in a courteous, polite and professional manner
- Perform triage; prioritizes care of the emergency patient based on their immediate needs and evidence / best practice and escalate care within appropriate time frame
- Take a detailed patient history and current symptoms; coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
- Work directly with Emergency Physician; perform specific patient tasks as assigned; assisting them during examinations, diagnostic testing and treatment
- Monitor current patients, identify issues, explore alternatives and deploy situations
- Observe signs, symptoms and behavior of patients and communicate issues to emergency team
- Perform specialized, lifesaving treatment such as basic life support, advance life support and trauma life support; manage basic life support needs and stabilizes the patient
- Immediately works to stabilize the condition of patient; performs necessary treatments and procedures in order to stabilize and improve patient condition
Provide specialty care (for State Registered Nurses with Post Basic Certification):
- Act as a resource person for the specific specialty
- Perform advanced skills specific to the specialty
- Privilege nurses, enabling their performance of the specialized skills
- Develop / review relevant policies/procedures of that specialty
Privileging Program:
- Privileging Program is for all trained staff without Post Basic
- Complete the Privileging Program as and when assigned
Other duties
- Delegate or performs pottering role; accompany or transport patients for their treatment/ investigation appointments to/ from relevant department where required
- Delegate or performs dispatch role; transport/collect medications, lab specimens, documents or equipment and etc. From/ to various departments in the hospital such as Pharmacy, Laboratory, Central Store, Administrative Office and etc. where required
- Undertake additional task/assignment as assigned by superior
