Job summary
The State Registered Nurse delivers safe and quality patient care and is accountable for the outcomes of patients assigned under his/her care. He/she works collaboratively with the nursing staff, physicians and other members of the healthcare team to accomplish patients’ needs and achieve positive outcomes in line with the hospital/nursing vision, mission, values and objectives. In addition, he/she practices within the realm of the profession’s ethical and legal frameworks whilst adhering to the hospital’s guidelines, policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing
- Prefer with Post Basic in Perioperative
- Registered with Malaysia Nursing Board
- Valid Annual Practicing Certificate
- Prefer clinical knowledge and experience
Duties & responsibilities
- Act as Reception Nurse, Scrub Nurse, or Circulating Nurse
- Assess patients prior to surgery (e.g. NBM status) and alleviate their concerns
- Assume responsibility of keeping the operating room sterilized by perform preliminary cleaning inside operating theater, including equipments with the current approved disinfectant solution and lint free cloth
- Prepare operating theater as per assigned surgical case with appropriate medical supplies, instruments, implants equipment and other items as per surgical requirements
- Check and test required equipment for its condition and functionality to enhance smooth operation
- Perform Time Out procedure for all surgical cases in OTT
- Adhere to safety standards and precautions
- Set up sterile field and maintain its sterility of each procedure
- Conduct first count and verify with Circulating Nurse during setting up the trolley
- Document the finding, sign the Instruments checklist and return the checklist to CSS along with instrument set
Other duties
- Greet and attends to patients in a courteous, polite and professional manner
- Delegate or performs pottering role; accompany or transport patients for their treatment / investigation appointments to/from the relevant departments
- Delegate or performs dispatch role; transport / collect medications, lab specimens, documents or equipment etc. from/to various departments in the hospital such as Pharmacy, Laboratory, Supplies Store or Administrative Office etc. where required
- Keeps work environment (equipment room, clean utility, dirty utility, patient/staff pantry etc.) clean and tidy
- Weekly Deep Cleaning and other necessary requirements as per Infection Control policies and guidelines in hospital
- Assists ward/unit nursing manager to keep tab of supplies/stock and functioning of equipment and facilities
- Monitor stock level of drugs and medical supply and participate in bi-annual stock take
- Escalates matters/issues requiring attention to ward/unit nursing manager/coordinator or to a senior nursing staff member
- Act as a resource person for staff to seek information and support
- Undertake additional task/assignment as assigned by supervisor
