Dr Woo graduated with an MBBS from University College London Medical School in 2005, where he was awarded a scholarship to study Medicine. During this time, he also received a second scholarship to complete a BSc in Tumour Biology. Ophthalmology training was undertaken in the Northern Deanery School of Ophthalmology in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, and he obtained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) in 2013. Glaucoma subspecialty training was completed at Sunderland before he went on to complete a two-year Glaucoma Fellowship at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London under Professor Keith Barton, Professor Gus Gazzard, and Professor (Sir) Peng Tee Khaw. Dr Woo is an established regional Key Opinion Leader (KOL) in the fields of Cataract Surgery and Glaucoma. He has a particular interest in the management of complex secondary glaucoma utilising a variety of Glaucoma Drainage Devices. Dr Woo also retains a longstanding interest in Microinvasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS), having first used MIGS devices in 2015 and subsequently becoming the first surgeon to set up a MIGS service in Northeast England in 2017. Dr Woo has a keen interest in medical education and training. He is both a trainer and examiner for the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) specialist examinations and serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals. Dr Woo is a registered specialist in Ophthalmology. He is a member of RCOphth, European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), European Glaucoma Society (EGS), UK and Eire Glaucoma Society (UKEGS), International Glaucoma Association (IGA), Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology (MSO), Malaysian Glaucoma Society (MGS), and Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM).
