Endoscopy is a form of medical investigation that can lead to a treatment plan if disease is detected. At Regency, our endoscopy unit is consisting of 3 Respirologists, 2 Urologists, 2 Gastroenterologists and 3 surgeons who perform more than 4,000 endoscopic procedures a year with the support of 6 nurses with endoscopy experience, 2 nurses in training and a patient care assistant.
Endoscopic procedures include locating, sampling or removing tumours or foreign objects from the lungs and digestive tract, taking small samples of tissue for diagnostic purposes (biopsy), removing bile stones from the bile duct and placing tubes (stents) through blockages in the bile duct, esophagus, duodenum, or colon.
