Overview
The application of Emergency Medicine occurs mostly within the Emergency and Trauma Centre, where life-threatening cases requiring immediate medical attention are usually present.
Conditions
Example: “Hypertensions” or “Shortness of breath”
Broken or dislocated bone
Broken bones, also called bone fractures are typically caused by sports injuries, accidents or falls. Another reason for fractures is osteoporosis, which causes bones to weaken with old age.
Traffic or worksite accident
Heart Attack
A heart attack is also known as myocardial infarction. It happens when a part of the heart muscle doesn’t get enough blood. Immediate treatment is needed to restore blood flow or the heart muscle will experience greater damage.
Deep Cuts With Uncontrollable Bleeding
A cut is a break or opening in the skin, and may be deep, smooth or jagged. If the cut is too deep the bleeding may not stop and immediate medical assistance should be sought.
Sudden Abdominal Pains That Do Not Subside
