Common health issues among children
We all want the best for our children especially in terms of health. Every parent knows that children’s health and safety are paramount during their childhood. Children and babies have low immunity systems, so when they fall sick, their health can deteriorate rapidly.
Here are some of the common childhood health issues:
- Common cold
This is the most common to happen to children, as often as once a month. The best treatment is usually fluids, comfort and rest. - Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease (HFMD)
HFMD causes blisters inside the mouth, hands and feet. The blisters are not itchy and it’s a harmless infection. - Chicken pox
Caused by the varicella-zoster virus, chickenpox is a very common childhood infection and is usually mild. - Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
The most common cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia in children younger than 1-year-old. It can be dangerous for some infants and young children. - Asthma
Whistling wheeze when breathing, shortness of breath either during physical activity or while resting usually occurs amongst children with asthma. - Eczema
Red, itchy rash on limbs and face. It’s usually hereditary or passed among family members with a history of eczema and it’s not infectious. - Constipation
If your children do not poop as often as they usually do or if their stool is harder than usual, they may have constipation. Other symptoms include a hard abdomen and stomach discomfort. - Gastroenteritis (stomach flu)
Symptoms of stomach flu include nausea, vomiting, smelly and watery stools, muscle aches, abdominal pain and a slight fever.
